  1. Example 1

    1. When I was in the 5th grade, my family moved to a new city. I had to start the school year a little late at a new elementary school. On my first day of music class, my homeroom teacher Mrs. Washington introduced me as a new student to my music teacher, Mrs. Schanzfeld. When Mrs. Schanzfeld told me it was nice to meet me, I confidently replied, “Thank you. It’s nice to meet you, too.” Mrs. Schanzfeld’s face brightened, and she told Mrs. Washington, “My, what a polite young man!” I felt really good about myself for making such a great first impression. Unfortunately, I think I became one of her least favorite students.

  2. Example 2

    2. When I was in high school, I had a huge crush on a girl named Jenny J. I had never really spoken much with her; we were just in the same science class. I only knew she was smart, popular, and beautiful. I had a punk rock band at the time, so my feelings for her inspired me to write a song about her. The song appeared on a CD we released a few years later. I sent her a copy of the CD, thanking her for the inspiration. She called my home and left a voice message on the answering machine saying we should meet for coffee. I called back and left a message on her machine, saying that it was nice to hear her voice. I added, “Hmm, your voice is huskier than I thought.” Why I said that, I’ll never know.

    3. I don’t know exactly why Kangnam University hired me, but I’m sure my preparation for the job interview helped. Before applying for the job, I did some research to learn more about the school. When my interviewers asked me about my religious beliefs I honestly told them I didn’t have any, but knew Kangnam University was a Christian university. Two of the interviewers had surprised looks on their faces. I said I wasn’t sure how much I would talk about religion in my classes, but that I would respect the beliefs of the school and its students. After a few more questions, another interviewer concluded, “Well, Charles, you can see like you. Do you have any questions for us?” I knew then I had the job.

I usually can’t give good impression to anyone.
Because my face is not smiling face.
So my best friends said, “When I saw you at first time, I was difficult to go near to you.”
When I heard this shocking expression, I decided to smile always.
After that year, I become 12nd grade. I was worrying about my first impression.
So I kept smiling like clown. Thanks to this, many friends came near to me, I could make many friends.

    3. How does one make a good impression at a job interview in Korea? Do you have any advice different from Reading 2? Have you had a job interview? Talk about it.

Well, this question will be a tesk I have to overcome soon or later. All the things we learned from our text book can help me to make a good impression at a interview. In my opinion it important to have confidence while we have an interview. Unless you have it, you can’t say what you want to tell interviewer. Also having confidence can give trust to interviewer. For getting a job or making good relationship, we should try to make a good first impression.

My first impression of the univerity was bad.
Because I’m really quiet and fainthearted.
I wanted to talk to friends but I was afraid to make a mistake.
    But now it is not.
I can talk to friends and laugh together.
because many friends help me to make another friends.
I feel grateful to them.I want to be your friend, too
    See you next time~:D

I was often told that if I was afraid of making a mistake, I would never try. And if I never tried, I wouldn’t get what I want in life. I think it’s true.

Im not sure it was good or bad first impression but i think it went good.. my story is going back to my 6th grade year.
LIke Professor i had to move to new country and new school, In korea i was really shy and didnt much have brave to talk to anybody and it goes same in America. I remember the first time i steped in classroom, everybody looked at me like animal in zoo and talked whisper each other
maybe some of them made fun of me too!? anyway first few week i had hard time hang out with friends or going school or playing sports.
I was alone and all i had in my mind was going back to where i belong but my mom knew about my situation and she told me few words.
“Make them come to you” she told me that i have to show them who i really am and make them come to me, I didnt know what that mean was but somehow i thought that i had to do something for get over this situation, So next day i acted totally different like I try to talk to them first, asking a question, having Joke each other, and try to get to know them. Few days later i found and realized something was different, they came to me say “hi” and asked me for hang out and playing together. It was fantastic feeling i still cant forget that and Im getting older and older, i realized that If i want to show people good impression, i had to move and act first not wait for they talk to me or do nothing.
maybe it is not answer but it worked for me very well and stil it works for me!!

    – i think a bit of vague words can make a good impression at a job interview.
cuz, in my job interview, interviewer asked me about career. so i told them that i worked
another wedding hall but i didn’t tell the period. actually i worked there but it was just 1 day. anyway they thought me that i worked long time. so they hired me. and i’m still working there.

But, Later there was call me. They said that the boss really wanted me.

The good impression I made most recently was the one with one of my friends.
When I was first grade of high school, I could see some of my friends, but
most of them weren’t that friendly. But at the second day of school, we changed
our seat and I could have some chance to make some new friends.
So I tried to talk with my friends sitting next to me and I found that we both like
to play games. So we shared some common hobbies and hanging out together a lot
After that moment, It’s about 3 years ago but relationship between with him is still strong!

3 Have you ever made a bad first impression? Do you remember a bad first impression someone made on you?

Prior to writing I speak one’s mind about my English skill. My English skill is very poor. Because of the English grammar can wrong. Please excuse my mistake. When i went to the drinking party what is my major party. We went to an bar. and one strange woman sit in front of me. she is twenty two years old. and I am twenty. due to her face was old I was careful and ask gentle. “Excuse me, What is your name?” We couldn’t any talk before introduce to each other. That was the first time we met. It is extremely natural behavior. but her answer is “Yes….”. her voice what made up voice is modest. but she never say that another word after. I do one’s best was been close that day but she never tried it. I don’t understand her behavior yet. Because her friend talked about me. “A kind man” …I thought she is crazy or a snob.

I’m doing a part-time job in cafe, so I always try hard to make a goog impression and be kind to all customers. It was a normal day as always. There were many people in cafe and I was very busy. At that time an old couple came in and make their order. I take their order very kindly though I was busy. They were very impressed by my kindness and started to talk about how unkind the other part-timer was. They were said to me about their son and asked me about my daily life. After that time, they sometimes come in my time and sharesome words with me. I think my kindness to them made good first impression on them and that’s why they visit me and have some talks.

    1. Do you remember a good first impression you made on someone? How about a good first impression someone made on you ?

Two weeks ago, we had a meeting on English literature. As I was a member of a Student Conceal, I introduced myself. We had a conversation after I introduced myself. I introduced myself again in front of my seniors. Though it was a first time with them that I was very uncomfortable, I tried to be friendly to them as I can. As time goes by, that stiff things go away and we became very friendly. As I heard that people said something good about me when I tried to be friendly to them at that time, I was very proud of myself. It was the first time I show myself a good person.

When I was working in a bakery, there were sisters who used to visit the bakery everyday during the vacation. I knew they are not very rich. Because they used a card that was provided from government. (The government provide a card to allow the poor students buy food on a vacation when school doesn’t give them lunch.) But I felt a positive atmosphere everytime they came to the store. I could see they smile brightly. Also they were greeted pleasantly clerk always. I was very impressed and I started giving some kind of kindness such as giving free bread that I put it sway if not sold. It is not a pity, they always kind to me and that gave a good impression. (Actually many people not so much kind to baker’s girl.) The sisters and I maintain a good relationship before I quit the bakery. They said “I miss you everytime I pass by here.” and gave me a small gift. I learned that keeping positive attitude and always smiling make a good impression and it can connect a good relationship.

It is really happy happen that someone has a good impression to me.
I think greeting is the most important thing in first impression.
when I going to friend’s home, there were friend’s parents.
So I greeted always. And then they had nice first impression to me.

Once, I have a mistake in first meeting someone.
The man has a complex in his name, and I didn;t know that.
So I wanted to make funny mood between us, I joked with his name.
It wasn’t a big joke, but I could know that he felt bad to me.

I heard to sucess in korea job interview, we should appeal my good point, and why i need to your company or group. And It is really important not only the contents of the interview, but also the appearance. In Korea, there are many academy for job interview. In there, they teach suit is very important part of sucess.
